Route Setting

Route setting is an important part of any climbing facility. Whether it is a school where children are getting their first experiences of climbing, or a dedicated centre where experienced climbers go to test themselves.

Sam has experience route setting for schools, leisure centres, military bases and climbing gyms. Sam takes pride in creating interesting, challenging and fun routes and boulder problems.

Having completed his RSA (Route Setters Association) Level 2 qualification and the BMC FUNdamentals Level 2, Sam can competently set routes which will assist your students in reaching the standard needed for NICAS of NIBAS. Alongside his route setting, Sam is also a climbing instructor at his local wall and a climbing wall technician travelling around the UK.

Personally, Sam has been climbing for 8 years- both indoors and outdoors. He has focused the last 4 years of his climbing career on pushing his grade and competing in local competitions. 2017 saw Sam climbing his 3rd 7c sport route, 2x V8 boulders and a handful of E2 trad routes making him a well-rounded climber capable of using his varied experiences when route setting.

Whether you are looking to revamp a small bouldering wall or a large roped centre, After the Send can cater for any of your needs.
